The best pub in Tunstall 2011 was awarded to The Furlong with 32% of the votes. The Furlong's qualities include a relaxed atmosphere, good ale, entertainment and fantastic food.

It just depends what you want from a pub... Him indoors says The Coach and Horses is best for watching the football (they have 3 tele's)...what do I know about that!!
The Sneyd Arms and The Talisman are both good for food and I like The Tavern for the atmosphere on a saturday night.

The Furlong ticks all the
The Furlong ticks all the boxes, An array of beers and wine, good meals/snacks reasonably priced, caters for familys during the day and adults at night. Great entertainmant and speciality nights, good quiz nights. During the summer you can eat or drink out doors. Also the barstaff are friendly and will go that extra mile to find you a table for a meal if you have not booked one. Jackie and Mick have done a great job with this pub over the years.

I've just done a massive pub crawl of the majority of pubs in the area.
I did not know that the Sneyd Arms was not a pub, I do now obviously. Maureen told me with a look of disgust for even trying to suggest that the Sneyd was a pub!

The Furlong is fab , it has a good atmosphere and i have spent many a Sunday and Saturday there , The entertainment they have is super and there food is second to none , a great place to eat , drink and socialize .

the furlong is my regular and i can honestly say that the staff there are first class the food is as good a meal as you could get for miles around the beers are varied with many excellent real ales and plenty of guest beers to sample.not a boozer better in and around staffordshire for me and i've sampled a few

As an ex-publican I admire the fine hospitality at the Furlong. Mick and Jackie work tirelessly to provide good quality products and a warm friendly atmosphere with the help of their excellent staff. I'm always made to feel very welcome and only wish my work commitments would allow me to visit more often.

The Furlong is a great traditional pub with fine beers & wines, excellent cuisine and Jackie, Mick and the staff are second to none. In a nutshell The Furlong is miles better than the rest.

Not only is the Furlong all that has been said already, we also have somethng else that is a bit special.
What we have there is a fantastic crowd of regulars, it makes s no difference when you go in you can always find a friendly face to chat with.

The Talisman is a great pub since it reopened. Chris and Mark are brilliant landlords and the rest of the staff are friendly too. The food is good as is the atmosphere of the pub.
Sorry I cant agree about the
Sorry I cant agree about the food in The Furlong, yes I agree it used to be good, but in the last 6 months I've had 3 bad meals there, all extremely greasy with poor cuts of meat, and the seats are badly in need of cleaning, I ruined a good dress in september from the filth that was on one of them. I shan't be going back in there untill I hear that its been refurbished.
I think that The Talisman has taken over from The Furlong on both the quality of food and the cleanliness of the place.

I think the Furlong has wonderful staff, that are always welcoming with a smile and a lot of cheek.
Having moved away overseas for over 4 years I came back and went to the Furlong for a meal and what a welcome I received, I was remembered as a past patron (not on a regular basis). This to me proves that the Furlong is a great place to frequent.
As for the meals, well you get good and bad in all pubs but have to say that I have always had a good meal, with generous portions. The place can get extremely busy as the staff are always racing around clearing tables and getting them ready for the next patron, so they don't always get the time to check that the seats are clean, after all it is a family pub.

The Furlong is by far the busiest pub around the Tunstall area, with pleasant staff who will always go out of there way to accomodate your needs. Excellent 'home cooked' food, with an abundance of choices. Fantastic range of Traditional ales and lagers, Outstanding entertainment/theme nights. There's whispers of an extension to the restaurant sometime in 2012, Keep up the good work Jackie, Mick & the team you get my vote!!!

Lets have a vote on the best workingmen's club in Stoke-on-Trent, my favourite is Tunstall workingmen's reform club. Good bar staff and a great atmosphere.
